The mocktail and non-alcoholic beverage market has exploded since COVID-19, shifting from a niche choice to a multibillion-dollar global market. Driven by the "sober-curious" movement, consumers are drinking significantly less alcohol, with U.S. alcohol consumption dropping to its lowest point in 90 years.  Consumers post-pandemic intentionally adopted "NoLo" (no and low alcohol) lifestyles but have high expectations for the flavor experience of mocktails.

McGarry’s Pub has always been Food First representing over 70% of our annual sales. To meet the growing NoLo lifestyle Executive Chef Billy, Front of House Shift Manager Jenna, and Jean & Bill McGarry spent an afternoon at Earl Giles Restaurant and Distillery in Minneapolis to sample their 600+ flavors, spices, and special garnishes in their Drinks Apothecary.  We came up with 6 hybrid cocktail/mocktails that speak specifically to the flavors and characteristics of McGarry’s Pub.  Our Hybrid Tails use premium zero-proof spirits, distilled botanicals, and complex flavor profiles.  

To introduce our Hybrid Tails Executive Chef Billy is holding a dinner on Monday July 27 starting at 6pm. 

Individual Tickets are $120 with non refundable 50% to reserve your seat.

About Executive Chef Billy Lord 

Billy (Wiliam) Lord has been with McGarry’s Pub for over 10 years. Starting as a dishwasher and working his way through server, line cook, and for the past 3 years has been chef and kitchen manager.  During this time Billy also completed his Bachelor of Arts in Business at Saint Cloud State University. 

Billy has Irish and the culinary arts in his blood. Billy’s part of the Coglin and Dooley clans and his father was Banquette Chef at Lafayette Club and Head Chef at Marathon Yacht Club and his great grandmother was head of the Culinary Services for East Yosemite National Park in Northern California 

Executive Chef Billy has taken leadership of McGarry’s Pub's long tradition of holding special dinners that highlight McGarry’s Pub culinary expertise and always paired with fantastic wine, beer or cocktails.

Starters 

 Gravlax Crostini

Cured salmon, whipped goat cheese with local honey, candied walnuts, and microgreens on toasted crostinis. Paired with  Honeysuckle 75  Elixir:  Honeysuckle Dandelion    Spirit: Gin / NA Gin     Garnish: Gold Lemon

Glazed Lollipop Chicken

Chicken lollipops with a vegetable demi-glace and parsnip mousseline finished with chive oil drizzle. Paired with Parsnip Collins Elixir:  Parsnip Carrot Lemon     Spirit: Vodka / NA Vodka     Garnish: Carrot Green

Entrees

Seared Scallop and Cauliflower puree

Pan-seared sea scallops, cauliflower purée, roasted red onion, dill oil, and lemon zest. Paired with Sea Side Gimlet  Elixir:  Ambergris Peat Konbu Lime    Spirit: Gin / NA Gin    Garnish: Silver Lime

Plum Braised Short Rib

Braised short rib and roasted baby carrots with plum demi-glace and charred plum garnish. Paired with Black Tea Plum Old Fashioned  Elixir:  Black tea Plum Demerara     Spirit: Irish Whiskey / NA Whiskey   Garnish: Naked Orange

Dessert

Strawberry Elderberry Mint Lime

Strawberry Shortcake with mint chantilly and macerated strawberries. Paired with Elderberry Mojito Elixir: Strawberry Elderberry Mint     Spirit: Rum / NA Rum      Garnish: Mint

Beginner Sourdough Workshop

Thursday July 30th

Grab a friend and join local sourdough enthusiast and coach Jess Thompson for a fun night out at McGarry’s Pub!

Whether you’ve been sourdough-curious for years or you’ve got a starter sitting neglected on your counter, this beginner-friendly workshop will give you the confidence to bake delicious homemade bread without over complicating the process.

You’ll learn the basics of sourdough, mix your own dough, and leave with everything you need to continue baking at home, including a sourdough starter, dough ready to bake, and simple step-by-step instructions.

Your ticket also includes appetizers and one drink to enjoy while you learn, making this the perfect excuse to gather your friends, treat yourself to a night out, and finally learn what all the sourdough fuss is about.

What to Bring:

-large mixing bowl

-spatula

-tea towel/kitchen towel

-kitchen scale if you have one

Note: For best results, sourdough is typically baked in a Dutch oven. The instructor will share alternative baking options during the workshop, but if you’ve been thinking about getting (or borrowing) one, now’s a great time! 4.5-6 qt size is ideal.
